Seoul, Republic of Korea and Strasbourg, France, September 8, 2026 — ORIENTOM Co., Ltd., a Korean company specializing in quantum computing algorithms and middleware (CEO: Seung-hyun Bang), announced today that it, QPerfect SAS, a French quantum software company (CEO: Philippe Blot), and BTQ Technologies Corp. (“BTQ” or the “Company”) intend to enter into a three-party Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for collaboration in quantum finance and quantum security, subject to finalization and execution by all three parties.
The proposed MoU is being announced during President Lee Jae-myung’s state visit to France, against the backdrop of broader Korea–France cooperation in advanced technologies. The proposed collaboration is a private-sector initiative among ORIENTOM, QPerfect — a wholly owned subsidiary of BTQ Technologies — and BTQ Technologies; the timing of the announcement does not imply government sponsorship or endorsement.
Validating quantum finance algorithms on a world-class emulator
Under the proposed MoU’s quantum finance workstream, ORIENTOM and QPerfect intend to jointly test and benchmark ORIENTOM’s quantum finance algorithms — covering derivatives pricing, portfolio optimization and risk management, and machine learning for the banking and insurance sectors — on QPerfect’s virtual quantum computer platform, MIMIQ™.
At the heart of the collaboration is MIMIQ™’s high-performance simulation capability based on Matrix Product State (MPS) methods, which makes it possible to validate the performance and practical viability of financial algorithms at qubit scales beyond the reach of conventional state-vector simulators. ORIENTOM and QPerfect aim to establish a solid basis for demonstrating quantum algorithms that financial institutions can put to use even before fault-tolerant quantum hardware matures.
The proposed scope of quantum finance cooperation includes the joint definition of use cases and benchmarking methodologies; the design and testing of quantum, quantum-inspired and hybrid classical–quantum algorithms; quantum resource estimation and performance analysis; joint technical reports and scientific publications; and participation in international collaborative funding programs.
Exploring quantum security for financial infrastructure
Alongside the quantum finance workstream, ORIENTOM and BTQ intend to explore quantum-secure technologies and cryptographic infrastructure relevant to financial institutions and other digital systems. BTQ would lead the quantum-security workstream, contributing its expertise in quantum security and trusted quantum infrastructure. Specific activities and deliverables would be subject to the final MoU and further agreement among the relevant parties.

Korea’s leading quantum finance company — currently running a national program
ORIENTOM, headquartered in Seoul, develops quantum computing algorithms and middleware and is regarded as Korea’s leading company in the application of quantum computing to finance. In 2025 it was selected, in a consortium with Yonsei University and KB Kookmin Bank, for the “Quantum Computing-based Quantum Advantage Challenge Research” program run by Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Research Foundation of Korea. Under this three-year program (2025–2027, KRW 3.05 billion), the consortium is implementing a stochastic differential equation solver for derivatives pricing and working to demonstrate quantum advantage.
ORIENTOM has also been actively expanding its international network, with MoUs signed with global quantum companies including PASQAL (France), Quantum Machines (Israel) and QuEra (USA), and as a member of the Quantum Economic Development Consortium (QED-C). In July 2026, it signed a separate MoU with softwareQ, a Canadian quantum software company, on quantum software toolchains.
QPerfect — emulation specialist from Strasbourg, Europe’s quantum science hub
QPerfect is a quantum software company spun out in 2023 from the European Center for Quantum Sciences (CESQ) in Strasbourg, France. It develops MIMIQ™, a virtual quantum computer that emulates large-scale quantum circuits with high fidelity on classical hardware, together with digital twins of quantum hardware and a Quantum Logic Unit (QLU™) framework for neutral-atom quantum systems. QPerfect is a wholly owned subsidiary of BTQ Technologies (Nasdaq: BTQ), a publicly listed quantum technology company, and continues to operate from its Strasbourg base as a core part of the European quantum ecosystem.
